The Tube’s latest map comes with the biggest change in recent history – the addition of the Elizabeth Line. Transport for London (TfL) has published the latest map showing the new railway and its stations ahead of its launch on Tuesday 24 May. Services on the new central section of the Elizabeth Line running from Paddington to Abbey Wood via tunnels under London built by Crossrail. This innovative new route now appears on the iconic Tube Map as a double purple line rather than a solid line, to separate the Elizabeth Line as a new railway, unlike the London Underground line. The new stations are now in the final stages of preparation before opening to customers, including signage and customer information. Customers would initially need to change clothes at Paddington and Liverpool Street to access Elizabeth Line services in the new central section. All stations on the Elizabeth Line will be phase-free by the end of this year, with lifts continuing to be provided at Ilford and Romford stations. Paddington to Woolwich and Heathrow stations provide level access to trains from the platform, which is visible on the map. The new Barking Riverside station in the London Overground has also been added to the map. The Barking to Barking Riverside Extension will provide the area with new public transportation connections, improving connectivity and accessibility to the area when it opens in the fall.
