When the babies are born Mrs. Lyons takes Edward, and Mickey stays with his biological mother, Mrs. Johnstone. Mrs. Lyons then sacks Mrs. Johnstone, threatening her with a superstition about separated twins dying if they ever find out about each other, to ensure she leaves Edward behind.
